A London Christmas March — Hand-Beaded Red Velvet Christmas Stocking
Two Royal Guardsmen march in perfect step down the length of this stocking, classic tall black bearskin hats and scarlet tunics rendered in fine bead, drums in hand and beating out a rhythm as they pass beneath London itself giving a playful nod to a London Christmas.
Big Ben rises behind them in detailed beadwork, its crystal-centered clock face catching the light like it's keeping time with the drums, while the London Eye arcs overhead, spokes and gems glinting as if the whole city turned out to watch the parade go by.
Their boots strike the same beat, the way guardsmen's boots always have on London's coldest, brightest mornings. At the toe, a beaded drum and crossed drumsticks rest among scattered gold stars, as though the last notes of the march are still hanging in the frosty air.
It's a small, glittering London Christmas, caught mid-parade — hand-beaded entirely by hand, up to 50 hours per piece, ready to hang and be marched out again every year.
